The Pinoy Golf Club of Washington (WaPinoy) was formed in 2011 to promote friendly competition and opportunities for regular play among the local Filipino community. From the start, WaPinoy has welcomed members from other cultures and been open to both men and women members; out current members include 32 men and 2 women on its rolls. We have members with handicap indexes ranging from 3.0 up to 41.0. Our club governs by constitution, by-laws and local rules and under a board of directors, whose officers are elected to serve 2 year terms. We usually conduct 2-3 member meetings annually. We schedule and play 15-18 competitive events annually with the first in March and the last in October. Our events are net-stroke play in format and flighted. The number of flights (anywhere from 1 to 4) in an event depends on the level of participation. We select and play at a different venue every 2-3 weeks; and generally play in any weather unless course conditions are adversely affected. We collect a modest event fee and optional closest to the pin fee from which we pay out to top places and closest to the pin winners on par 3 holes. Members sign up for event participation a week out. Members are paired 1-2 days before an event by our president, who makes adjustments in pairings up until tee off based on who shows up. Results of our events are posted same day and published via email to all members. We post scores for all members participating in our events. We have strong Handicap Committee oversight and remain current and in compliance with the USGA Handicap System.
