Max Herendeen of Bellevue, Wash., just finished his freshman season as a member of the University of Illinois men’s golf team, and what a season it was.

 Max Herendeen at the 2023 U.S. Open Final Qualifier, held at Tacoma Country & Golf Club.

**Season highlights:**

- Runner-up at the 2023 Sahalee Players Championship
- Won the 2024 NCAA Stanford Regional
- T2 Stroke Play finish at the 2024 NCAA Championship
- Top-20 finishes in 12 of 13 stroke play events
- Voted Big Ten Freshman of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten
- GCAA PING All-America Second Team
