Andrew Von Lossow of Spokane and Paul Mitzel of Seattle both have qualified for the match-play portion of the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, being held this week at Kinloch Golf Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va.
Von Lossow shot rounds of 67-71 to earn the No. 12 seed, while Mitzel survived a grueling 14-for-12 playoff to earn the No. 58 seed.

Other Northwest players who had qualified for this national championship but did not make it to match play are Landon Banks of Tualatin, Ore.; Matt Marrese of Bellevue, Wash.; and Taylor Klopp of Vancouver, Wash.
Earlier this year, Von Lossow won the Rosauers Open, competing against the region’s PGA Professionals. In 2022 he was named the WA Golf Men’s and PNGA Men’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year, the first player in history to win both honors in the same year.
This is the second consecutive year that Mitzel has played in the U.S. Mid-Amateur, and both times he’s advanced to match play via playoff.
