WA Golf Championship Season Kicks Off with 15th Annual Champion of Champions

DuPont, Wash. – Excitement mounts for the launch of the WA Golf championship season this Thursday, April 25, at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash. with the start of the 15th Annual Washington Champion of Champions. The championship features a full field of 156 club champions from across WA Golf territory in four divisions: Women, Men, Senior Women, and Senior Men.

This two-day stroke play event takes place April 25-26, starting daily at 7:30 a.m. from both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.

In the Women’s division, Angela Zhang, last year’s champion and the reigning WA Golf Women’s and Junior Girls’ Player of the Year, is set to defend her title. She will be challenged by former champions Kennedy Knox (2022) and Sarah Lawrence (2018).

In the Men’s division, previous champions Bjorn Bjorke (2009, 2020) and Jon McCaslin (2018) are eyeing another victory.

The Senior Women’s division features past champions including three-time winner Leslie Folsom (2018, 2020, 2023), Gretchen Klein (2017, 2022), Karen Madison (2015), and Denise Kieffer (2009), the division’s inaugural winner.

The Senior Men’s division is highlighted by Tom Brandes, a three-time defending champion and seven-time winner (2012, 2016-18, 2021-23), and Keith Crimp, who has clinched the title three times (2013, 2014, 2020).

To be eligible to compete in the Champion of Champions, a player must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Club Champion of a WA Golf Member Club (2022 or 2023)
  • Past Champion of the Men’s Champion of Champions (2019-2023)
  • Past Champion of Senior Men’s Champion of Champions (2019-2023)
  • Champion of a WA Golf Championship; excluding Parent-Child and Mixed Chapman Championships (2023)
  • Champion of any event on the WA Golf Men’s Performance Points List (2023)
  • Champion of any event on the WA Golf Senior Men’s Performance Points List (2023)
  • Top-10 on the WA Golf Men’s Performance Points List (2023)
  • Top-10 on the WA Golf Men’s Mid-Amateur Performance Points List (2023)
  • Top-5 on the WA Golf Senior Men’s Performance Points List (2023)
  • Top-5 on the WJGA Boys’ Performance Points List (2023)
  • WJGA State Junior Boys Champion (2023)

Age: No age requirements for Men’s Championship. Players in the Senior Men’s Championship must have reached their 55th birthday by April 25, 2024.

Age: No age requirements for Women’s Championship. Players in the Senior Women’s Championship must have reached their 50th birthday by April 25, 2024.
