From May 1 through October 31, play and post your scores for at least ten, 18-hole rounds. Each month we’ll calculate the handicap improvement factor and send updates.

If you’ve gone out and golfed, we think you’re already a winner, but at the end of the season we’ll crown four of our most improved golfers.
Most Improved Golfers will receive $250 to spend at Golftec good towards lessons or merchandise, and a sparkling crystal award!
2024 Details & Rules
Eligibility: Open to all WA Golf members with an established Handicap Index. RENEW or JOIN
Entry fee: None
Entries open: April 1, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.
Entries close: April 30, 2024 at midnight.
Beginning Revision Date: May 1, 2024 – The participant’s Handicap Index on this date will be used as the beginning point for determining improvement through the duration of the challenge.
Ending Revision Date: November 1, 2024 – The participant’s Handicap Index on this date will be used as the ending point for determining improvement through the duration of the challenge.
Minimum Number of Rounds: Golfers must post a minimum of 180 holes in any combination of 9 or 18-hole rounds from May 1, 2024 through October 31, 2024.
Posting Scores: In the spirit of the Rules of Handicapping, players are expected to post all eligible scores immediately after play.
Divisions: Field will be split into two divisions for Women and Men. Each division will be evenly split into two flights based off handicap index.
Prizes: Grand prize winner for each flight within each division. Random drawing each month for WA Golf swag.
Determination of Winners
Winners will be determined using the USGA recommended method for determining the Most Improved Player. The method is as follows:
Add 12 to the player’s Handicap Index at the start date. The number 12 is used to provide a consistent value for all players being evaluated. This value is A. Add 12 to the player’s Handicap Index at the end date. This value is B.
Divide value A by value B, calculating to three decimal places. This is the improvement factor. The player with the highest improvement factor is the most improved player.
Example for Most Improved Player:

| Value A: | 24.3 + 12 = 36.3 |
| Value B: | 16.2 + 12 = 28.2 |
| A / B: | 36.3 / 28.2 = 1.287… |
| Improvement Factor: | 1.287 |
Breaking Ties: Ties will be broken by extending beyond three decimal places until a winner is determined.
