Getting started with your membership
What's included with a WA Golf YOC membership?
$5 rounds at dozens of golf courses all around Washington and Northern Idaho – as well as access to all YOC courses nationally.
A USGA GHIN Handicap Index – post your scores, track your progress, and establish a handicap.
Other WA Golf benefits, including a subscription to Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine, eligibility in WA Golf and PNGA events, championships, and more.
Access to national Youth on Course programs like scholarships & internships.
How do I play $5 rounds?
When you register for a $20 annual WA Golf YOC membership, you will receive an email with your GHIN number. You will also see a link to the YOC Curriculum, which first-time members need to follow and complete. It takes about 15 minutes and will help new golfers learn how to get around a golf course.
You can view your membership card at the bottom of the Welcome email that you received after you signed up. You can either print that card out or save a picture of it on your phone and use that when you go to play to prove your membership.
Make a plan to go play – check our website frequently for the courses and their $5 round availability times. We always recommend calling ahead to make sure the course has a time available for you to play. Don’t forget your membership card!
How do I use my GHIN number?
GHIN – Golf Handicap and Information Network, pronounced “jin” – is a handicapping computational service provided by the USGA through authorized associations and clubs, like us.
Your unique GHIN number gives you the ability to post scores from which your Handicap Index is calculated. Having a handicap will allow you to track your progress, as well as make you eligible for certain golf tournaments and events.
Once you have your GHIN number you can start posting your scores either online, or with the USGA GHIN app on your mobile device. The app lets you post your scores, calculate course handicap, view score history, and more.
A minimum of three 18-hole or six 9-hole scores posted are all that’s needed to calculate and establish your Handicap Index! The more often you post your score, the more accurate your handicap. Click here to learn more about handicapping and posting scores.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the age limit for a membership?
Youth on Course Members need to be between the ages of 6 and 18 when signing up for the program. If you are a college student between the ages of 18 and 25, consider joining U on Course.
What is an eligible $5 round of golf?
An eligible round is considered “individual play” as opposed to team or event play. WA Golf YOC memberships may not be used for any organized or group play.
After I pay and take the curriculum online, when will I receive my membership card?
New for 2023! You will no longer receive a physical WA Golf Youth on Course membership card. Instead, your membership card can be viewed in the Welcome email that you received after you signed up.
How long does a membership last?
All WA Golf YOC memberships end on December 31. When you register you can set your membership to be automatically renewed. If not, you need to come back and use your current GHIN number to renew your membership. Do not create a new profile if you already have a GHIN number.
I may have a GHIN number but I can’t remember – what should I do?
When registering for WA Golf YOC, you will be prompted to search for yourself either by name or GHIN number. Go ahead and look yourself up by name and see if the details match. If not, click “Create New Profile.” Feel free to reach out to Audrey Orem if you have questions about membership or your GHIN number.
I want to play! Should I just go straight to the golf course, or should I call ahead of time?
We always suggest checking the course availability and calling the golf course ahead of time.
What if I lost the membership card or cannot find my Welcome email?

No. You must use the current year’s membership card to prove your membership.

At this time, we only accept Visa and MasterCard. We do not accept American Express, Discover or Visa Gift Cards.
