Get involved in WA Golf

Volunteers are the backbone of Washington Golf. Throughout our nearly 100-year history WA Golf is thankful and fortunate to have dedicated members committed to giving back to the game—serving as board and committee members, rules officials, course marshals, score keepers, course raters, handicap chairs, club representatives, coaches and more.

We encourage our members to join us and become a bigger part of WA Golf by volunteering.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have many volunteer opportunities that can fit your level of commitment.

    • CHAMPIONSHIP VOLUNTEERS: View WA Golf championship volunteer opportunities and sign up for an event.
    • CLUB MEMBER REPRESENTATIVES: serve as a liaison between WA Golf and their Club. If you have any questions about the program, or how to get involved, please contact the WA Golf Membership Department.
    • COURSE RATERS: WA Golf rates Member-Club and Non-Member Club golf courses in accordance with the USGA Course and Slope Rating System.

The WA Golf Course Rating team is comprised of WA Golf staff and groups of trained volunteers throughout the various regions of Washington State and Northern Idaho. When rating a golf course, the course rating team evaluates each hole from every set of tees to gather the necessary data for each of the various obstacles.

Interested in volunteering as a course rater or want more information on how course rating works? Please contact WA Golf Director of Handicapping & Course Rating Nate Schroeder at
