Associate Membership FAQs
Does an Associate membership include a handicap? What else is included with this membership?
Yes! Associate members receive a USGA GHIN Handicap and full membership to Washington Golf and all of the association benefits. View Member Benefits.
By joining as an Associate Member, do I have to be involved with the club I select?
No. Clubs volunteer to host Associate Members and act as their handicapping oversight, but you won’t have any strings attached or obligations to participate with the club. Associate members do not have access to club-specific benefits.
During the sign-up processes by selecting one of the participating clubs, does that make me a “full” member of that club?
Associate membership is designed for golfers looking to join WA Golf and receive a handicap without fully committing to a Men’s or Women’s club. Associate membership is also the lowest price for adult members to join WA Golf and receive a handicap.
What if I am interested in participating with my club and getting involved with their league or benefits?
If you wish to get access to club-specific benefits, you will need to sign up as a regular member of that club. Click here to see a list of Regular memberships that are available to join through our website. You can also contact the club or course you are interested in.
Why don’t I see my usual golf club and/or course on the list of Associate memberships when I am signing up?
Not every club participates in our Associate membership program. Clubs volunteer to host Associate Members and act as their handicapping oversight. If you are looking for a specific club to join, you should sign up as a “regular” member of that club. With a “regular membership” you will be eligible to receive full “club” benefits as well as WA Golf benefits and your handicap.
There are no participating clubs in my area, what should I do?
Of the clubs listed, please select the one nearest you. As a reminder this club is very simply offering to manage your scoring record and provide handicapping assistance so any of the clubs listed could work for you.
Am I eligible to participate in WA Golf events?
Yes. All Associate members are considered full WA Golf Members entitled to all WA Golf benefits, including eligibility to play in all WA Golf events (Championships, Net Four-Ball Match Play, Winter Series, Casual Golf Days, etc.) for which they meet the entry requirements.
