Holes-in-One, and then some, at Fircrest

From Top – Left to Right: Benie Johnson, Tony Ching, Devin rosen, Dan Wolfe

Fircrest Golf Club, which in 2024 had more official GHIN scores posted than any other WA Golf facility, produced an unbelievable stretch of quality last month to go along with its state-leading quantity.

During an 18-day stretch in May, there were eight holes-in-one and three albatrosses, or double-eagles, or whatever you want to call a 2 on a par-5 hole on the 6,440-yard, par-71 layout near Tacoma.

What is even more impressive is that six of those feats were accomplished during two pressure-packed days of the Spring Two-Ball, the biggest tournament of the year at Fircrest.

It all started May 8, when Eddy Inderbitzen aced the 185-yard eighth hole. On May 16, Chris Nye followed with a 1 on the 160-yard 16th hole.

Then came the rush during the Spring Two-Ball, May 17-18: Aces by Kyle Torgerson and Steve Buchberger on the 190-yard third hole, Bernie Johnson on No. 8, Tony Ching and Art Werner on No. 16. Also, during that same weekend during the tournament, Tyler Edwards posted a 2 on the 480-yard, par-5 10th hole.

The hits kept on coming when Devin Rosen aced the third hole on May 24, and Dan Wolfe and Joey Smith both had albatrosses on the 10th hole two days later.

And what’s also somewhat amazing is that the 13th hole, the shortest and easiest on the course at 140 yards, went unconquered during that stretch. So, there’s still a challenge ahead for Fircrest members.
