TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge Sweep the Men’s and Women’s WSGA Member Club Team Championship

Kingston, Wash. (May 31, 2012) –For the fourth year in a row, men’s and women’s teams from TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge stole the show at the Washington State Men’s and Women’s Member Club Team Championships, held this year at White Horse Golf Club.

In the Men’s Championship, Chris Bae of Issaquah, Vince Caluori of North Bend, and Charles Schmidt and Fred Johnson of Snoqualmie, shot a 217 in the final for a two-day total of 417 and a ten stroke victory over Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club. This was the third win at the Member Club Team for Bae, Caluouri, and Schmidt, and the second with Fred Johnson, who joined the team prior to last years’ victory. Bae also took home the men’s individual low gross honor with a two-day total of 3-under 141, his fourth consecutive men’s low gross honor.

“It’s feels great. We love this event,” said Caluori, about the victory. The team said the turning point was the par-4 11th hole. “Charles (Schmidt) holed out a 30 yard putt from off the green for birdie and net eagle,” said Johnson, “then Chris (Bae) made a putt from probably 40 feet for another birdie, and I made a 10-foot birdie as well, and that definitely propelled us to the victory.” “That was spectacular,” added Caluori.

In second place, with a two-day team score of 427, were Frank Vick of Surrey, B.C., Steve Savage of Surrey, B.C., John Gallacher of Burnaby, B.C., and Keith Manifold of Port Moody, B.C., representing Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club. Semiahmoo G&CC entered the final round one stroke back of TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge, but could not keep up the torrid pace, ultimately finishing ten strokes back with a two-day total of 427.

Martin Pool of Kenmore, a member of the Riverbend Golf Complex squad, earned men’s individual low net with a two-day total of 4-under 140.

In the Women’s Championship, Molly Grossi of Sammamish, Diana Chow of Redmond, and Kim Ponti and Roberta Smith of Issaquah, the three-time defending champions from TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge, made a huge charge in the final round to win their fourth consecutive championship, posting a two-day total of 430 for a seven stroke victory over Monica Boegl , Vikki Hurt, Tarry Decker, and Marianne Jorgenson, all from Bainbridge Island and representing Wing Point Golf and Country Club.

When asked how the final round went, the champions pointed right to Chow. “Our pal here (Chow) played great today. She really carried us,” said Ponti. “We played some holes bad and some well, and it turned out great for us,” she added.

Monica Boegl won the women’s individual low gross competition with a score of 16-over 160, while Chow won the women’s individual low net competition with a score of 4-under 140.
