Bellingham, Wash. – Dane Renkert and Taya Battistella of Bellingham combined to shoot 5-under-par 67 and won a four-hole playoff to win the 5th Annual Washington Mixed Chapman Championship.
The 18-hole championship, which consisted of a field of 47 teams, was held at North Bellingham Golf Course.

Playing in the Chapman format, the duo of Renkert and Battistella made an impressive four birdies and an eagle against one bogey in today’s round. At the end of today’s play, they found themselves in a tie with Colten Kleis of Seattle and Shawn Farmer of North Bend.
On the fourth playoff hole, Renkert hit his drive out of bounds while Battistella hit hers in perfect position about 50-yards out. Renkert then hit one to a few feet for an easy tap-in birdie to seal the deal.

Winning the Net division was Brian and Tracy Cameron of Shoreline, Wash., who combined for an 11-under 61.
The championship was open to sides of amateur golfers who have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index issued by a WA Golf member club not exceeding 36.4 for males and 40.4 for females, and are members in good standing of a WA Golf member club. Each side must have one male player and one female player. There is no age requirement or limit, and teams are divided into flights based on course handicap.
The championship was played in a Chapman stroke play format, with two players playing as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each player playing his or her partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, including par-3 holes, partners select the ball with which they wish to score and then play that ball alternately to complete the hole.
