Folsom and Harris Capture Fifth Women’s Best-Ball Title

Bellevue, Wash. (May 13, 2008) – Four-time and defending champions, Leslie Folsom and Jane Harris of Rainier Golf and Country Club in Seattle, Wash, made a statement today by finishing ten strokes ahead of the field, capturing their fifth title at the 2008 WSGA Women’s Best-Ball Championship, hosted by Glendale Country Club in Bellevue, Wash.

With team score averages three strokes higher the second day, Folsom and Harris carded a second round even par 73, finishing the championship at 3-under par 143. They opened the championship with a 3 under par 70.

In only the ninth year of this championship, Folsom and Harris have now won more than half, winning in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007, and now 2008.

The Women’s Best-Ball was contested over 36-holes of play. The two player teams played four-ball stroke play each day. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing their own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole.

The Women’s Best-Ball is one of 6 state championships conducted annually by the WSGA. Other championships include the WSGA Men’s Best-Ball, WSGA Women’s Amateur, WSGA Men’s Amateur, WSGA Member Club Team Championship and WSGA Senior Men’s Amateur.
