At the awards banquet traditionally held the night before the WSGA Annual Meeting, Michele and Chris Sales of Issaquah, Wash. were honored as the recipients of the 2015 George Holland Volunteer of the Year Award. The banquet and meeting were held on October 23-24 at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, Wash.
The WSGA is proud to award Michele and Chris with the 2015 WSGA George Holland Volunteer of the Year Award. They were first introduced to volunteering by Jane Sossamon and Ron Nelson, the 2009 recipients of the award. Since then, Michele and Chris have volunteered and contributed a great deal to WSGA championships. Everything from working at the pre-championship registration table, helping out on the course by shuttling players, monitoring the pace of play and taking live scores. The WSGA is very fortunate to have such enthusiastic and willing volunteers like the Sales who will take on any task to help make our championships special. In 2015, they spent hundreds of hours traveling and volunteering for championships all over the Pacific Northwest. The highlights of the year are the following:
- U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier (Cle Elum, Wash.)
- WSGA Men’s Amateur Championship (Cle Elum, Wash.)
- WSGA Men’s and Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships (Renton, Wash.)
- PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship (Sunriver, Ore.)
Michele is a WSGA member through the Northwest Ladies Golf Association, while Chris is a member through the Boeing Employees Golf Association.
