Bremerton, Wash. – Jason Allred of Gig Harbor, Wash. shot 6-under par 66 to earn medalist honors in leading the field of 78 players who competed today in U.S. Open Local Qualifying at the Olympic course at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
Along with Allred, four other players have also advanced to U.S. Open Final Qualifying. Those four include, Blake Snyder of Seattle, Wash. and David Phay of Oak Harbor, Wash., who both shot 3-under 69; and Johnny Carey of Seattle, Wash. and Brian Thornton of Sumner, Wash., who earned the final two qualifying spots by advancing through a three-for-two playoff.

Allred, originally from Ashland, Ore., won the 1997 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship before playing on and off on various professional tours.
Blake Snyder played collegiately for two years on the Washington State University men’s golf team from 2012-14. An assistant professional at the PNW Golf Academy, Snyder won the 2022 Washington State Assistants Championship.
Phay is the PGA Head Golf Professional at Whidbey Golf Club in Oak Harbor, Wash.
Carey is the only amateur to advance from today’s qualifier. He won the 2021 Seattle Amateur Championship.
Thornton is a PGA Teaching Professional at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, Wash. He is a three-time Western Washington Chapter PGA Player of the Year and previously advanced through U.S. Open Local Qualifying in 2019.

Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this Local qualifier for the U.S. Open Championship.
To be eligible, golfers must either be a professional, or be an amateur with a Handicap Index of 1.4 or less.
Local qualifying, which is played over 18 holes, is taking place around the U.S. between April 25-May 23. Final qualifying will be contested over 36 holes and held in Texas and Japan on May 23, and at eight sites throughout the U.S. and one site in Canada on Monday, June 6. In the Pacific Northwest, Final qualifying will be held at Pronghorn Resort (Nicklaus Course) in Bend, Ore.
