Gove and Lee Co-Medal in U.S. Senior Open Qualifying at Oakbrook

Tacoma, Wash. – Jeff Gove of Sandpoint, Idaho and Yong Lee of Auburn each shot 1-under par 70 to tie for medalist honors in leading the field of 84 players who competed today in U.S. Senior Open Qualifying at Oakbrook Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash.

Gove played for 23 years on the PGA TOUR and the Web.com (now Korn Ferry) Tour. He’s a two-time winner of the Washington Open (1995, 2012). Gove now works as the PGA Director of Instruction at The Idaho Club in Sandpoint, Idaho.

This is the second consecutive year that Lee has qualified for the U.S. Senior Open and he’ll be seeking to make the cut for the first time. He also qualified and played in the 2015 and 2016 U.S. Senior Open.

First alternate, finishing one shot back of Gove and Lee, is PGA Professional Tony Robydek of Lakewood. Second alternate is Gordon Nelson of Gig Harbor, who finished two back.

Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this Qualifier for the U.S. Senior Open Championship.

To be eligible, golfers must either be a professional an amateur with a Handicap Index of 3.4 or less. All entrants must have reached their 50th birthday by June 23, 2022.
