Pullman, Wash. – The opening rounds of the 65th Washington Men’s Four-Ball and the 28th Senior Men’s Four-Ball championships were conducted today at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.

The teams of Johnny Carey & Paul Mitzel and Reid Hatley & Tyler Daniels each combined to shoot 10-under par 62 to tie atop the leader board in the opening round of the Men’s Four-Ball. Carey and Mitzel’s round was highlighted by a hole-in-one by Mitzel on the par-3 175 yard 11th hole.
Both teams lead by one-stroke over the sides of Andrew Von Lossow & Ryan Camp and Kristoff Panke & Devon Caruso.
In the Senior Men’s Four-Ball, the team of Tom Brandes & Erik Hanson set the pace after combining to shoot a 14-under par 58 to take an 11-stroke lead heading into tomorrow’s final round. The duo carded 10 birdies and two eagles on the day.
Final round play gets underway tomorrow, Friday, May 27th at 7:30am off the No. 1 and 10 tees. The Senior Men will play in the morning wave, followed by the Men in the afternoon.
The Washington Men’s Four-Ball Championship was previously known as the Inglewood Best-Ball from 1956 until 1993, when in 1994 WA Golf began to administer the event and introduced the Senior Men’s Four-Ball.
The Men’s and Senior Men’s Four-Ball are two of 14 championships conducted annually by WA Golf.
