Pullman, Wash. – Craig Ronne of Eugene, Ore. shot rounds of 66-65 to earn medalist honors over the 70-player field who competed today in 36-hole U.S. Amateur qualifying at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Wash.

Claiming the other available spot in this qualifier is Josh Gliege of Meridian, Idaho who secured his spot after a playoff.

Ronne made a total of nine birdies and one eagle during today’s play to finish at 9-under-par after 36-holes, one shot clear of second place.

Ronne just finished his senior season on University of Oregon men’s golf team. Earlier this summer he made the semifinals at the Oregon Amateur and last year he won the Oregon Stroke Play championship. Next week he will participating in the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship.

Gliege played college golf for Texas A&M University and Boise State University. He is currently the assistant men’s golf coach at Wichita State University. This is the second time he has qualified for the U.S. Amateur (2016).

Ronne and Gliege will now advance to the 122nd U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be held August 15-21 at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., with Arcola Country Club in Paramus, N.J. serving as the championship’s stroke-play co-host.

Kevin Tucker of Pullman, Wash. is the first alternate from this qualifier, while Spencer Tibbits of Vancouver, Wash. is the second alternate.

Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this qualifier for the 2022 U.S. Amateur Championship.

To be eligible, golfers must be an amateur with a Handicap Index of 2.4 or less.
