Brajcich, Zhang, Brandes and Folsom Claim Titles at 14th Washington Champion of Champions

DuPont, Wash. – The 14th Washington Champion of Champions concluded play today at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash. This year’s field consisted of 157 champions from around WA Golf territory, competing in four divisions – Men, Senior Men, Women and Senior Women.

Jordan Brajcich of Everett, Wash. won the Men’s title, Angela Zhang of Bellevue won the Women’s, Tom Brandes of Bellevue won the Senior Men’s and Leslie Folsom of Tukwila won the Senior Women’s.

Jordan Brajcich won his first Washington Golf title by firing rounds of 69-69 to earn a one-shot victory over Mitch Baldridge of Tacoma. He entered today’s round one shot off the lead.

Brajcich qualified for this championship by winning the 2022 Kitsap County Amateur.

Angela Zhang

In the Women’s division, Angela Zhang finished at 9-under par and coasted to an 11-shot victory after rounds of 65-70. She is just 13-years-old, and her opening round of 65 set the women’s course record at The Home Course.

Zhang won the 2022 Washington Women’s Amateur and was named the 2022 Washington Junior Girls’ Player of the Year.

Tom Brandes

Tom Brandes secured his third consecutive victory in the Senior Men's division by shooting impressive rounds of 72-71, and winning in a one-hole playoff against Ken Wade from Kennewick.

This marked Brandes' seventh championship title in this category, having previously won in 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021, and 2022. Additionally, he has been named WA Golf's Senior Men's Player of the Year eleven times.

Leslie Folsom clinched her third Senior Women's title by shooting rounds of 78-78, which earned her a two-shot victory over defending champion Gretchen Klein of Hoquiam and Patty Myers of Camas.

This win marks Folsom's fifth championship title in the event overall, having previously won the Women's division in 2014 and 2015.

The Champion of Champions is one of 14 championships conducted annually by WA Golf.

The championship is hosted annually at The Home Course, which is cooperatively owned and operated by WA Golf and the Pacific Northwest Golf Association.
