EIGHT MOVE ON AFTER USGA OPEN LOCAL QUALIFIER AT TUMBLE CREEK CLUB

Tumble Creek Club in Cle Elum, Wash. hosted 118 competitors all hopeful to earn one of eight qualifying places into the U.S. Open Sectionals. Players were treated to sunny skies and pristine course conditions throughout the day.

Tim Feenstra of Issaquah, Wash. was the class of the field posting a 3-under par 68 to lead all competitors. Wes Heffernan of Calgary, Alberta and PGA Tour player, Andres Gonzales of Olympia, Wash. both qualified with a score of 2-under par 69. Sean Packer of Lake Tapps, Wash. shot a 1-under par 70 to qualify as well.

The remaining four spots were fought after in a sudden death playoff between Corey Prugh of Spokane, Wash., Dominick Francks of Olympia, Wash., Sandy Vaughn of Seattle, Wash., Derek Berg of Kenmore, Wash., and Charlie Hughes of Seattle, Wash who all shot even par 71. The playoff lasted two holes when Francks missed his par putt and the remaining players made their pars. Francks will be the 1st alternate.
