Folsom and Harris cruise to victory at the WSGA Women's Best-Ball Championship

Yakima, Wash. (Tuesday, May 25, 2010) –Leslie Folsom and Jane Harris, both of Seattle, Wash. began the final round with a 3-stroke lead and cruised to a 7 stroke victory at Yakima Country Club in Yakima, Wash. after a final round 2-under par 70, giving them a two day total of 6-under par 138.

Folsom and Harris have teamed up to win this championship 6 out of 11 times (’00, ’01, ’02, ’07, ’08, ‘10) and have finished runner-up at least one other time in 2009. Folsom and Harris made birdies today on holes 3, 8, and 13 with a lone bogey on the par-3 15th hole.

Finishing in second place after carding a final round of 3-over par 75 was Kim Titus of Gig Harbor, Wash. and Kristy Whitcher of Belfair, Wash. who finished with a 36-hole total of 3-over par 147.

The Women’s Best-Ball Championship was contested over 36-holes and featured 47 teams. The two player teams played four-ball stroke play each day. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing their own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole.

This is one of 15 state championships conducted annually by the WSGA. Other WSGA championships include the Men’s and Senior Men’s Best-Ball, Women’s and Senior Women’s Amateur, Men’s Amateur, Men’s and Women’s Member Club Team, Senior and Super Senior Men’s Amateur, Parent/Child, Men’s and Women’s Champion of Champions, and the Men’s and Women’s Mid-Amateur.
