Hair and Johnson seize lead in 62nd Men's Best-Ball; Shanks and Blade go low to lead 25th Senior Men's Best-Ball

The duo of Nate Hair of Edwall, Wash. and Scott Johnson of Richland blistered their second nine today to take control of the 62nd Washington State Men’s Best-Ball Championship, combining to go 8-under total, giving them a 1-shot lead going into tomorrow’s final round of the championship.

Hair and Johnson shot 6-under on their second nine this afternoon, leaping over several teams to sit at the top of the leaderboard.

Brian Shanks of Edmonds and partner Mike Blade of Mount Vernon teamed for an 8-under 64 to sit at the top of the leaderboard in the Senior Men’s Best-Ball.

The team holds a two-shot lead over Steve Zalewski of Renton and partner Kim Hubbart of Bellevue.

Both championships are being held concurrently at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash.

Under mild weather conditions, 18 out of 42 teams in the Men’s Best-Ball broke par, while 15 teams in the 40-team Senior Men’s field broke par. Rain is expected in tomorrow’s forecast, so expect the windswept course to play a little tougher.
