Jacobs Earns Medalist Honors at U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Qualifying at Bellingham G&CC

Amanda Jacobs of Seattle, Wash. shot an even-par 73 during the 18-hole qualifier to earn medalist honors in qualifying for the 2015 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship, which will be held Oct 3-8 at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La.

The qualifier was held at Bellingham (Wash.) Golf & Country Club. The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this qualifier for the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Along with Jacobs, also qualifying for the championship proper were Shawn Farmer-Sese of Bellevue, Wash., Leslie Folsom of Tukwila, Wash., Kareen Markle of Meridian, Idaho and Shelly Stouffer of Nanoose Bay, B.C.

Earlier this summer, Jacobs had won the Washington State Women’s Mid-Amateur, and will represent Washington in the upcoming USGA Women’s State Team Championship, with her two teammates for that championship being Farmer-Sese and Folsom.

Last year, Jacobs was named the 2014 WSGA Women’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year.

The U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
