Kennedy Knox defends title at SWGA City Championship

Kennedy Knox of Normandy Park, Wash. defeated Leslie Folsom of Tukwila, Wash. 9 and 7 in the 36-hole championship match to win the Seattle Women’s Golf Association (SWGA) City Championship. It is the second title in a row for Knox. The championship was held at Rainier Golf and Country Club.

Knox and Folsom are both members at Rainier, and this marks the first time that two players from the same golf course faced each other on their home course in the championship’s final match.

Knox just finished up her freshman year playing on the women’s golf team at the University of Washington. With the win this week at the SWGA, she is now trying to repeat her historic year of last year, in which she also won the Washington Women’s Amateur, the Washington Junior Golf Association Girls’ State Championship, and the PNGA Junior Girls’ Amateur. She was the first golfer ever to make a clean sweep of these championships in the same season, and was named the 2021 WA Golf Women’s and Junior Girls’ Player of the Year.

Folsom has won this city championship nine times, and is a 3-time WA Golf Senior Women’s Player of the Year.
