Kim Takes Medalist Honors at U.S. Junior Amateur Qualifier at Manito Golf and Country Club; Peters Medals in U.S. Girl's Junior Qualifier

Jae Hoon (Ian) Kim of Surrey, B.C. shot rounds of 70-77 in today’s 36-hole qualifier held at Manito Golf & Country Club in Spokane, Wash. to earn the one available spot from this qualifier to play in the 2014 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, which will be held July 21-26 at The Club at Carlton Woods (Nicklaus Course) in The Woodlands, Tex.

Kenedee Peters of Olympia, Wash. shot a 2-under par 70 to lead the field at the U.S. Girls’ Junior qualifier, held concurrently today at Manito. Peters, along with Sarah Rhee of Lynnwood, Wash., Olivia Benzin of Tacoma, Wash. and Marianne Li of Bellevue, Wash. all advance to play in the 2014 U.S. Girls’ Junior, which will be held July 21-26 at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Ariz.

The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted these qualifiers for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and the U.S. Girls’ Junior.

This is the second consecutive year that Kim has qualified to play in this national championship, which was held last year at Martis Camp in Truckee, Calif.

The U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and U.S. Junior Girls’ are two of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
