The WSGA would like to welcome Tanner Smith aboard as our new USGA P.J. Boatwright Intern.
Tanner will be working primarily with the WSGA Championship department.
Get to know a little bit about Tanner:
As the P.J. Boatwright Intern my specific duties include assisting in the preparation and execution of the Association’s championships, along with helping the other departments within the Association with any needs they may have. I grew up in Port Hadlock, Washington, and spent many of my summers working at Port Ludlow Golf Club. Before beginning my internship here, I attended Washington State University studying Sports Management and Communications.
What is your favorite part about working in championships?
My favorite part is being around the competition, and seeing people with a strong competitive drive, striving to achieve their best on the different courses throughout the Pacific Northwest.
What do you find most interesting about being in the Pacific Northwest?
What’s really great about the Northwest is how different it can be across a relatively short distance. Even between Eastern and Western Washington the landscape changes dramatically, which creates many different breathtaking views throughout the courses where we conduct the championships.
