Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – Sebastian Moss of Houston, Tex. Shot 3-under-par 69 to claim medalist honors in U.S. Junior Amateur qualifying held today at The Club at Rock Creek in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Moss led the field of 37 players by firing six birdies during his round. He was 5-under after 10 holes, but then double-bogeyed the par-5 11th and bogeyed the par-3 12th. He steadied himself and went 1-under for his remaining six holes.
The two other spots available at this Qualifier were claimed by Cade Anderson of Scottsdale, Ariz. who shot 2-under 70; and Joe Wilson IV of West Chester, Ohio who shot even-par and then survived a three-for-one playoff.
Moss, Anderson and Wilson IV will now advance to the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, which will be held July 19-24 at The Country Club of North Carolina in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C.
Moss recently committed to the University of Louisville men’s golf team, and will join them in the fall of 2021. He became an AJGA Open Champion by winning a two-hole playoff victory at the Coca-Cola Junior Championship. He also registered a come-from-behind win at the IMG Lake Jovita Junior World Qualifier. Moss qualified for the 2020 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, and qualified as one of the youngest participants at the 2020 Texas Amateur. In 2018, Moss led the men’s golf team to a second-place team finish at the TAPPS 4A State Championship, finishing tied for second individually and receiving all-state honors as a rookie.
Anderson recently won the Antigua National Invitational and Mountain Ridge Invitational, and finished fourth in the Arizona DII State High School Championship. He has committed to playing for Rutgers University in the fall of 2021.
Wilson IV has verbally committed to playing golf for Ohio State University beginning in the fall of 2022.
Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this Qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
To be eligible, golfers must not have reached their 19th birthday by midnight of July 24, 2021, and have an up-to-date Handicap Index not exceeding 4.4.
