Northwest Native Sadena Parks to Host Junior Clinic in Advance of KPMG Women's PGA Championship

On Saturday April 9, LPGA Tour player Sadena Parks will return to the Pacific Northwest to host a junior golf clinic at Sahalee Country Club from 3:00-5:00 p.m. The clinic will be run in partnership with the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, which will be held June 9-12 at Sahalee.

Sadena Parks will conduct a junior golf clinic on April 9 at Sahalee Country Club in advance of the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, which will be held at Sahalee June 9-12.

A former University of Washington women’s golf team member, Parks will lead the junior clinic for participants of The First Tee program, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding opportunities for young people through the game of golf.

A native of Spanaway, Wash., Parks made history in 2015 when she became just the fifth African American to compete on the LPGA Tour in the tour’s 65-year history. A Husky from 2008 to 2012, Parks holds two of the lowest rounds in school history, shooting a 5-under par 66 at the 2011 Stanford Intercollegiate and a 6-under par 66 at the 2011 NCAA West Regional. Now her eyes are set on making her mark on the LPGA Tour.

“We are excited to have Sadena serving as a role model for participants of The First Tee,” said Heidi Wills, executive director of The First Tee of Greater Seattle. “To have such a trailblazer from our community is inspiring and gives our kids a sense of what is possible through passion, dedication and vision.”

“We are excited to partner with The First Tee of Greater Seattle to host this event and support the local junior golf initiative in the Seattle area,” said KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Director, Sean Riley. “One of the PGA of America’s biggest initiatives is growing the game of golf and with this clinic, these junior golfers will see first-hand what can be achieved with hard work and dedication. Sadena embodies all the core values The First Tee program teaches and we are thrilled to have her here helping grow the game.”

Grounds tickets for the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship are currently on sale, and all juniors (ages 17 and under) are welcome free of charge if attending with an accompanying ticketed adult. Each ticketed adult will be permitted four (4) junior daily tickets at no additional charge.
