Round 1 Recap of WSGA Women's Best-Ball Championship

The weather was perfect and Fircrest Golf Club was in immaculate shape today for the first round of the championship! Ginny Burkey of Fircrest and partner Lisa Smego of Olympia have the early lead after finishing with a round of 3-under par 71. The team combined for 5 birdies and just 2 bogeys on the day.

Tied for second place, 2-shots back after rounds of 1-under par 71 are Yasue Alkins of DuPont and Sharon Drummey of Kirkland and the team of Leslie Folsom and Jane Harris both of Seattle.

Folsom and Harris have won 8 of the previous 13 WSGA Women’s Best-Ball Championships, so Tuesday’s final round should be exciting!

Play will start at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
