Nate Schroeder has taken on the role as the new director of rules and competition, leading the championship department in conducting WA Golf championships throughout the state.

Nate will be a familiar face to many of you at WA Golf championships. He has been on staff at WA Golf since 2014, when he signed on as the manager of rules and competition, helping to conduct the Association’s championships. In 2017, he became the assistant director of rules and competition.

In 2019, Nate shifted roles at the Association, becoming the director of handicapping and course rating for Washington Golf, which is staffed and housed in the same office as the PNGA.

But taking effect two weeks ago, Nate is returning to the championship department, this time as its leader for both Washington Golf and the PNGA.

“I am thrilled to take on the role of director of rules and competition,” Nate said. “I spent six years to begin my career in the Association’s championship department, and while I spent the past two seasons leading our handicapping and course rating services, I never lost my passion for running championships. The Association has been fortunate to have had tremendous leaders in the past who have established a long history of conducting amateur championships at the highest level. I’m honored the have the opportunity to uphold the traditions and standards established, while also looking to innovate for the future.”

Prior to joining WA Golf’s staff in 2014, Nate served a USGA P.J. Boatwright Jr. internship with the New York State Golf Association in 2013, and had just graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2013 with a B.S. in sports management.

Nate replaces Scotty Crouthamel, who had led the championship department for many years, but now has begun a new opportunity as a Rules official with the Korn Ferry Tour, the feeder tour for the PGA TOUR. Scotty had been with the PNGA for 20 years, first as USGA P.J. Boatwright Jr. Intern and then as a full-time staff member.
