The Home Course Hosting Washington State Parent-Child Championship

The 7th Annual Washington State Parent-Child Championship is taking place at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash. on Friday, July 24.

Parent-Child Championship
The Home Course, #4

The 18-hole championship will have gross and net champions and will be played in a Chapman stroke play format, with two players playing as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each player playing his or her partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, including par-3 holes, partners select the ball with which they wish to score and then played that ball alternately to complete the hole.

Tee times begin at 7:30 am from the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.

The parent’s relationship with the child must be natural, adopted or stepchild. Partners could have more than one generation between them (i.e. grandfather-granddaughter).

Last year’s Parent-Child Championship saw the father-son team of Roger Pierce of Oak Harbor, Wash. and Doug Pierce of Sedro Woolley, Wash. come from behind to win the championship in a one-hole playoff at the Cascade Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. The champions in the net division were Dave and Rachel Ponting of Mukilteo, Wash.

The Home Course, which opened in 2007, is owned and operated by the Washington State Golf Association and the Pacific Northwest Golf Association. It was the companion course to Chambers Bay for the 2010 U.S. Amateur, and was the site of the 2014 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links.
