Walsh and Hall Co-Medal in U.S. Open Local Qualifying at Gold Mountain

Bremerton, Wash. – Sean Walsh of Keller, Texas and Jamie Hall of Seattle, Wash. both shot 5-under-par 67 to earn co-medalist honors in leading the field of 93 players who competed today in U.S. Open Local qualifying at the par-72 Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

Along with Walsh and Hall, three other players will also advance from this Local qualifier to the Final qualifier. Those three include Patrick Sato of Bellevue, Wash. and Vincent Murphy of Scottsdale, Ariz., who both shot 4-under 68; and George Markham of Phoenix, Ariz., who earned the final available qualifying spot by winning a playoff.

Walsh played collegiately at Gonzaga University, graduating in 2016. He turned professional in late 2016, and has played on various mini-tours since then.

Hall won the 2020 Lilac City Invitational, and played collegiately at Seattle University and University of Hawaii.

Sato played his college golf at Seattle University. He made it to the semifinals in the 2018 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, and turned professional later that year.

Murphy, originally from Edgewood, Wash., qualified and played in the 2016 U.S. Amateur.

Markham played college golf at the Colorado School of Mines graduating in 2019 and turning pro shortly after. He recently qualified for status on the 2021 Mackenzie Tour.

The 2021 U.S. Open Championship will be held June 17-20 at Torrey Pines Golf Course (South) in San Diego, Calif.

Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this Local qualifier for the U.S. Open Championship.

To be eligible, golfers must either be a professional, or be an amateur with a Handicap Index of 1.4 or less.

Local qualifying, which is played over 18 holes, is taking place around the U.S. between April 26-May 17. Final qualifying will be contested over 36 holes and held in Texas and Japan on May 24, and at nine sites throughout the U.S. on Monday, June 7. In the Pacific Northwest, Final qualifying will be held at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland, Wash.
