Washington Golf Selects Team for 19th PNGA Lamey Cup

Washington Golf’s Championship Committee has selected the state’s team for the 19th PNGA Lamey Cup, to be held April 27-29 at Victoria Golf Club in Victoria, B.C.

WA Golf has previously won the PNGA Lamey Cup five times, most recently in 2024 when the event was held at Seattle Golf Club. The Association's other victories came in 2008, 2015, 2019, 2022.

The annual Ryder Cup-style team competition is held on a rotating basis throughout the region, with this year’s event being held in British Columbia and hosted by BC Golf.

  • Andrew Von Lossow of Spokane – tied for second at 2025 Rosauers Open Invitational; qualified for U.S. Amateur; named 2025 WA Golf Men’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year.

Women’s Mid-Amateur selections include:

  • Taya Battistella of Bellingham – won the 2025 BC Women’s Mid-Amateur; advanced to Round of 32 in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur; named 2025 WA Golf Women’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year.

  • Tina Papatolis of Issaquah – won the 2025 Washington Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Men’s Master-40 selections include:

  • Tyler Kalberg of Seattle – medalist in 2025 U.S. Amateur Qualifier; top 20 finish at Royal Oaks Invitational.

  • Jeff Widdows of Yakima – quarterfinalist at 2025 PNGA Men’s Master-40.

Senior Men’s selections include:

  • Nate Hair of Spokane – won 2025 PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur and Spokane City Senior Amateur; named 2025 WA Golf Senior Men’s Player of the Year.

  • Paul Hogben of Seattle – won the 2025 Washington Senior Men’s Amateur; finished T9 in the PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur.

Senior Women’s selections include:

  • Kim Shek of Bellevue – won the WSWGA State Championship; advanced to Round of 16 in U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur; has been named WA Golf Senior Women’s Player of the Year each year from 2022 onwards.

  • Kim Titus of Fox Island – won the 2025 Washington Senior Women’s Amateur.

The PNGA Lamey Cup was created in 2006 by past PNGA President Dr. Jack Lamey to continue the camaraderie and partnership of the six member associations now under the PNGA umbrella: Alaska Golf Association, British Columbia Golf, Idaho Golf Association, Montana State Golf Association, Oregon Golf Association and Washington Golf.

Dr. Lamey – a PNGA Hall-of-Famer who passed in December 2019 – is also the namesake of the event’s perpetual trophy.

Each of the six teams consists of six men and four women. The representation includes two mid-amateur men of 25 years of age or older, two men of 40 years or older, two senior men of 55 years or older, two mid-amateur women of 25 years or older and two senior women of 50 years or older.

Alaska will be represented through a newly created PNGA team, the roster of which can consist of up to five Alaska players, with the remainder of its roster being filled by other selected association players.

The two-day competition includes four-ball and foursome matches on the first day and singles matches on the second and final day. Each association will play a total of 20 matches, comprised of one of each four-ball and foursome and two singles against each of its five opposing teams, across all player categories. With both men’s and women’s scores used to determine the team result, the Lamey Cup is the only known event of its kind in the U.S. and Canada.
