Washington Senior and Super Senior Men's Amateur: Round Two Recap

Brandes maintains lead at Washington Senior Amateur; Evenson still on top in Super Senior

Tom Brandes of Bellevue, Wash. followed up yesterday’s 3-under 69 with a solid even-par 72 to maintain a four-shot lead after two rounds at the 33rd Washington Senior Men’s Amateur. He’ll head into tomorrow’s final round looking to successfully defend his title and win his sixth title overall in this championship.

Brandes is still the only player in the Senior field to be under par for the two rounds. He will tee off at 12:40pm in the final group tomorrow, and will be paired with Tom Hale of Lakewood, Wash., who sits four back of Brandes; and Alex Stamey of Mill Creek, Wash., who sits five back.

In the 12th Super Senior Men’s Amateur, Rich Evenson of Mercer Island, Wash. shot 2-over 74 to follow-up on yesterday’s 70, and maintains a one-shot lead over Rick Weihe of Bellingham, Wash. Weihe won the 1998 Washington Senior Amateur. The two players will be joined by David Hunter of Federal Way, Wash. at 9:40am, in the final group of the Super Seniors.
