What Did You Miss About Golf?

Winner of From Her Tees’ last issue drawing

Kathleen Turner of Port Orchard, Wash. was the winner of a WA Golf prize pack. Here she is in her own words….

“What I missed most about golf during shelter in place? Everything to do with golf was missed!

Getting the tee times and groups together and making the clubs weekly games and monthly tournaments. Communicating with members and making plans for the seasons for golf getaways and out of town tournaments. Hugging your playing partners and wishing them a great day. Listening to playing tips from my husband, my favorite coach, and playing the game with my girlfriends and watching them playing the game. And laughing, so much laughter. Playing the game with my husband while traveling around the country in our travel trailer and all the tournaments we play in.

The 19th hole where we socialized with everyone and watched the PGA or LPGA, really miss watching the pros.

Practicing chipping, putting and the driving range. Thinking about defending your club champion title.

Smiling while watching the youth play with such skill and grace. The walking, listening to nature, and watching eagles soar while deer graze.

So many annual tournaments and anticipation to be able to play in more. The exhilaration of scoring well and the disappointment of missing the eagle putt. Wiping the sweat off your brow after hiking back up that hill and seeing your ball 2 feel from the pin. Hearing your competitors say ‘nice shot!’

Congratulating your partner on such a great game and win and laughing over our struggles. Hugging your playing partners for such a fun day.

We truly missed everything to do with golf.

But we are so happy that we can play again, so happy even with the restrictions. Just so happy to be able to play again rain or shine. We’re playing again!”
