DuPont, Wash. – A pair of 13-year-olds, Angela Zhang (Bellevue) and Alice Zhao of (Irvine, Calif.) teamed up and topped the field in today’s USGA qualifier to secure the lone available spot in the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
Today’s qualifier for next year’s championship was conducted at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.

Zhang and Zhao combined to shoot a bogey-free 7-under par 65 during today’s qualifier. They were three shots clear of the second place team.
Today’s outcome furthers a stellar year on the golf course for Zhang. She has won seven WJGA tournaments this season and in June, she won the Washington Women’s Amateur.
Zhao was a co-medalist at this year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, hosted by Chambers Bay.
Zhang and Zhao have secured their spots in the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship, which will be held here in Washington, May 13-17 at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.
The duo of Grace Lee (Bellevue) and Taylor Mularski (Spokane) earned the first alternate spot from today’s qualifier, while Sydney Yermish (Wynnewood, Pen.) and Suzie Tran (Poulsbo) earned the second alternate.
Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this qualifier for the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
The U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball is one of 15 national championships conducted annually by the USGA, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs.
