Comment period for Westport Golf Links project is now open
To some, the Westport Golf Links project in Westport, Washington looks like just another golf development. In reality, the project is a comprehensive initiative designed to revitalize the coastal community’s economy while enhancing and protecting Washington’s picturesque Pacific Coastline. Five-plus years into the planning and permitting process, the privately-funded $30 million project is now at a pivotal point – the 45-day public comment period in response to the project’s Environmental Impact Study.

The recreational opportunities are obvious as the thought of a David McLay Kidd-designed seaside links course set along the Pacific Coastline already has many golf enthusiasts around the world dreaming of walking the fairways. Beyond the golf, Westport Golf Links will bring key economic, environmental and health/safety benefits, including:
Economic Revitalization:
- The project’s primary goal is to stimulate the local economy. It is projected to generate substantial economic impact, from construction through ongoing operations.
- Construction will create temporary jobs, injecting capital into the region.
- Operationally, the course will drive tourism, supporting local businesses and attracting golf enthusiasts.
- Increased tax revenue will benefit Westport, Grays Harbor County, and Washington State.
- The project will create many permanent jobs within the hospitality and golf operations sectors.

- The project will also include the creation of nearly 70 acres of high value interdunal wetlands on-site as well off-site restoration of nearly 70 acres of critical salmon habitat.

- The project will also result in improvements to the Westport Light State Park outdoor recreational opportunities. Including new trails, and other amenities that will be available to the general public.

- The project will contribute to Westport’s long-term economic stability, diversifying the economy and reducing vulnerability to fluctuations.
