Renton, Wash. (Tuesday, May 24, 2011) – Leslie Folsom and Jane Harris, both of Seattle and members at Rainier Golf and Country Club, came from behind to win their 7th Washington State Women’s Best-Ball Championship. The pair has won 7 out of the 12 championships since the event started in 2000.
Folsom and Harris started the final round at Fairwood Golf and Country Club in Renton, Wash. 3 shots behind first round leaders, Kim Titus of Gig Harbor and Kristy Whitcher of Belfair. The teams traded pars as they battled the early morning chill in the air. The momentum swung in favor of Folsom and Harris on the par 4, 4th hole where they made birdie while Titus and Whitcher made bogey. Another two-shot swing on the par 4, 11th hole would put Folsom and Harris in the lead and they would hold on down the stretch for a two shot victory posting a 36-hole total of 4 over par 146.
When asked how they have played so well together in this particular format, Harris said with a laugh, “We play a lot of golf together, so we know each other’s games pretty well.”
