Fun on the fairways with ‘Hey ChiKKs Golf’

Kori Roes (left) and Kim Feighner have been playing golf together for years now.

With a pink-and-black logo and social media handle that incorporates each of its admins’ first initials, Hey ChiKKs Golf is intent on serving an inspirational mission.

Indeed, just a few years ago, Kim Feighner and Kori Roes were members at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, Wash., but hadn’t played much golf and, really, didn’t even know each other too well.

But today, with new clubs in their bags and always-wide smiles on their faces, they bring one-of-a-kind energy to Meridian Valley’s fairways and wherever else their social media content may reach.

Kim and Kori, who call themselves the “Hey ChiKKs,” run the Instagram page of the same name where they share the memories, tips, tricks and chips that come with being out on the course. Just look at some of their videos posted there, in which they’re mic’d up during a golf outing.

The duo’s friendship traces back to the COVID-19 pandemic and the golf surge that came with it.

“I never golfed,” Kim said. “Then one day I was at the club, and I met Kori, and she had only recently started golfing. And I was like, ‘If she can do it, maybe I can do it.’”

Kori had indeed started playing about six months earlier, when, out of similar pandemic shelter-in-place cabin fever, she decided to take part in the Meridian Valley’s Women’s Twilight League.

Members at Meridian Valley Country Club, Kim and Kori try to play as much as their full-time schedules allow.

“It was fun,” Kori recalled. “And my obsession with the game has not stopped since then.”

With the new hobby in hand, Kim and Kori got to know each other like two golf balls in a sleeve. They began to exchange Instagram videos of swing tips and other various golf advice, which got them thinking about doing the same themselves, with an encouraging tone toward the women’s golf community.

“Let’s do our thing and show women that it’s never too late to start something new,” Kim recalled thinking. “And don’t be intimidated. We don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

Finding a name for themselves was easy, with their common first initial factoring into the spelling of Hey ChiKKs.

The more they teed it up over the few years since then, the more confident they’ve become in sharing their content. By the start of 2026, Hey ChiKKs has bloomed to a following of over 9,000 on Instagram.

Kim and Kori have kept their travels and progress with the game going when necessary, too. They took a trip to Arizona last year, and over the winter signed up for a short game clinic.

When they look back on all the laughs and fancy drinks that they’ve shared, they recall a slight level of trepidation that came with initially picking up the game. But it was those nerves, and the continuous sharing of their fun, that made them eventually feel at home within the golfing community.

“I think the page actually helped with our confidence,” said Kori. “The more we did it, the easier it became to go to that first tee box and hit that first drive without worrying about what anyone thinks.”

And it’s that message and mentality that has certainly reached an audience. Comments on Kim and Kori’s posts often come in the form of humorous emojis, or compliments on their energetic demeanor. They even gained sponsorship from a Leavenworth distillery.

As of January 2026, ‘HeyChiKKs’ has over 9,000 followers on Instagram.

“We were getting comments from other women that were saying, ‘Oh my gosh, we love how real the two of you are on your page,’” Kim said. “And we thought, ‘Okay, so this is something.’”

Kim and Kori keep a steady flow of on-course action going, playing on weekends and Tuesdays, the latter when Meridian Valley’s ladies club plays.

They also honed their skills through last year’s WA Golf Ladies Links League, which Kori calls one of the pair’s favorite experiences.

“We just had a blast in their competitions and enjoyed golfing with other women and inspiring them to join the Ladies Links League,” Kori said. “It was just a lot of fun this year.”

It wasn’t for naught, either. The duo finished tied for first in the Ladies Links September Shamble, held on their home club of Meridian Valley, posting a cool net 15-under par 57.

Not expecting to be in that position that day, Kim and Kori left the course after posting and were unaware of their success until a friend told them a few days later. In any case, it demonstrated a remarkable season of both laughs and genuine results from teeing it up.

“The first year of Ladies Links, we were at the bottom,” Kim explained with a laugh. “Then we moved up to the middle, and then we finally made it to the top. So this is super exciting for us.”
