Golf’s meteoric, fired-out-of-a-cannon rise to mainstream popularity in recent years can be traced in part to how well any aspect of the game can be documented on the social media platforms millions crave every second of every day.
Just about on the daily, Andrew Von Lossow and India Gants contribute to that notion directly. Von Lossow, of Spokane, fronts the equipment-analyzing “Lead Tape Chronicles,” while the Seattleite Gants takes on the handle of “Seattle Golf Girl,” documenting her local course adventures, as well as her enjoyment and learning curve with the game.
“Social media is my full-time job, but my golf page is my special little side project that is low stress and acts as a creative outlet for me,” says Gants. “I love it.”
Von Lossow, often referred to by his initials “AVL” within the golf realm, is similarly enthusiastic about the work he does.
“It's been a blast,” said Von Lossow, who has been named the PNGA Men’s Mid-Amateur Player of the Year twice (2022, 2024) and the WA Golf Men’s Mid-Amateur Player of the year three times (2022, 2024, 2025). “I just love the game so much and been in golf so long. This is the dream job scenario for me. It's been really cool.”
Gants has long been a widely known figure, for non-golf related reasons. Now currently working full-time in social media documenting her health and wellness journey, Gants gained a certain level of fame in 2017 when she won the 23rd cycle of the TV show America’s Next Top Model.
Beyond her television success, though, Gants has always had somewhat of a golfing proclivity, too. She is the daughter of Colin Gants, a PGA professional who has been head pro at West Seattle Golf Club since 1990. As such, she grew up with an inside look at the game, regardless of how often she played.
“I grew up around the game and would hang out at the course after school,” says India. “But I only ever played my first full 18 holes during the pandemic. So, I've been playing for about six years now.”
India’s prior fame had already garnered her a large social media following by the time she started posting golf content. To cater to the sport’s audience, India created a separate page on which to post her local outings.
In 2025, she moved back to Seattle from Los Angeles and changed her handle to Seattle Golf Girl. After that, she says, the page just took off.
In India’s own words, Seattle Golf Girl is “all about celebrating the bogey golfer and highlighting the Seattle-area courses,” which she does with aplomb. A large portion of her followers are local, she says, and they love seeing their courses showcased, humble as they may be.
“When I post a random muni in Washington, people get excited because it's a course they feel connected to,” she explained, adding that she is often recognized on the course.
That India’s full-time job revolves around her own social media pages means she can craft her own weekly schedule, and she does so in such a way that there is always time for golf.
“I always walk the course, so I get my exercise in, enjoy being outside, and create content for my growing golf page all at the same time,” India said.
She admits that a goal of hers is for her page to grow beyond that of a side project, but she is more than happy with where it currently is.
“I love the game and am blessed to get to play as much as I do.”
Von Lossow created Lead Tape Chronicles in 2018. His golfing background goes back much further, having grown up in Seattle watching his father, Jim, who is a PGA Life Member, operate golf equipment shop Von’s Golf. It was within that establishment that he saw the shiny sticky stuff to which Lead Tape Chronicles lends its name first in use by his dad’s clientele.
“There are a lot of clubs that have lead tape on them,” Andrew remembers thinking during LTC’s foundational days. “What if I did a just did a page about clubs with lead tape where people can send me their clubs?”
Scroll through that Instagram page today, and you’ll be bombarded with a neat assortment of reels and close-up shots of lead tape-laden equipment that Von Lossow analyzes with passionate precision. As he is also on staff at GolfWRX.com, he and the outlet’s on-site photographer work together to provide weekly, up-close looks at what some Tour pros use on their clubs, ultimately comprising the Lead Tape Chronicles series. Von Lossow also provides updates on his own mid-amateur golf career, which is very much still in motion.
Von Lossow always has had fun with the page, primarily focusing on the clubs of his buddies and golfers far and wide early on and garnering a good following with it.
A engagement boost of large proportions came when Ian Gilley, a well-known golf personality and founder of the Sugarloaf Social Club, reposted a Lead Tape Chronicles post that swiftly gained the page hundreds of new followers.
“That was one of those moments where I'm looking at my phone, I'm like, ‘Why does it keep lighting up?’” he remembers thinking. “It was about an Odyssey 2 ball DFX putter, which were a big deal back in the early-mid 2000s.”
Von Lossow’s measurables are only trending upward, and that he can receive a consistent stream of on-the-ground photos from GolfWRX Photographer Greg Moore only bolsters the weekly Lead Tape Chronicles.
“It’s just kind of getting a pulse on what’s out there, and it’s just a way of showing all the custom clubs that the tour pros are using,” Von Lossow says on that section of his content. “Or if you see any trends with what they like to use, for heavier clubs or lighter, or however they like the club set up.”
Hoping to continue playing in state and regional championships is only part of what his long-term goals are.
"With lead tape on clubs, I want to keep showing how they react and how that can benefit people,” he said of what he can continue to provide. "Doing more stuff with playing certain shots and stuff like that. And then just keeping up with tournament golf.”
