Hatley, an amateur, had birdied the final hole of the 54-hole tournament to get into a playoff with amateurs Pat O’Donnell of Happy Valley, Ore. and Darren Slackman of Spokane, Wash. The top five finishers in the PGA Section major were all amateur players.

This is Hatley’s first victory in a Pacific Northwest Section PGA major, competing against the region’s PGA professionals.

Hatley is a four-time WSGA Mid-Amateur Player of the Year, and three-time PNGA Mid-Amateur Player of the Year. Last week Hatley had finished fifth in the Mexican Amateur.
