Bellingham, Wash. – Chris Jorgensen of Blaine, Wash. shot 1-under-par 71 to claim medalist honors in U.S. Senior Open qualifying, held today at Sudden Valley Golf Course in Bellingham, Wash.

Jorgensen was 2-over par on his front nine but shot 3-under on the back, and was the only player in the field of 43 contestants to finish under par. He earned the only available spot from this Qualifier. He will now advance to the 2021 U.S. Senior Open Championship, which will be held July 8-11 at Omaha (Neb.) Country Club.
Jorgensen, 50, won the 1991 Washington Amateur Championship and the 1993 PNGA Men’s Amateur. He then turned professional and competed several years on the Korn Ferry Tour. He now works in the club-fitting industry.
First alternate, finishing one shot back of Jorgensen, is PGA Professional Jeff Coston of Blaine, Wash. Second alternate is Mark Knowles of Belfair, Wash., who finished two back of Jorgensen.
Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this Qualifier for the U.S. Senior Open Championship.
To be eligible, golfers must either be a professional, or be an amateur with a Handicap Index of 3.4 or less. All entrants must have reached their 50th birthday by July 8, 2021.
