Port Orchard, Wash. – Lauryn Nguyen of Seattle, Wash. shot 1-under-par 71 to claim medalist honors in U.S. Girls’ Junior qualifying, held today at McCormick Woods Golf Club in Port Orchard, Wash.
Nguyen finished her round with a birdie on the par-3 17th and then an eagle on the par-5 18th, which vaulted her into the top spot.
Grace Lee of Bellevue, Wash. and Kennedy Knox of Seattle both shot even-par 72 to claim the other two spots from this Qualifier.

Nguyen, Lee and Knox will now advance to the 2021 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, which will be held July 12-17 at Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase, Md.
Nguyen is the reigning WJGA Girls’ State Champion. In 2020, she also won the WJGA State Match Play Championship and the AJGA Junior at Pronghorn. She was named the 2020 Washington Golf Junior Girls’ Player of the Year.
Lee won the 2020 Sung Hyun Park Junior Championship, and was selected for Team Washington in the 2019 Girls’ Junior America’s Cup.
Knox had six top-10 finishes in WJGA events in 2020, and recently committed to play for the women’s team at the University of Washington.
Washington Golf (WA Golf) is the local representative of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and conducted this Qualifier for the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.
To be eligible, golfers must not have reached their 19th birthday by midnight of July 17, 2021, and have an up-to-date Handicap Index not exceeding 9.4.
