Solstice Sisters
Six years ago several members of the McCormick Woods Women’s Club in Port Orchard, Wash. established a tradition of playing “Golf ‘til You Drop!” on the summer solstice each June, the longest day of the year. It’s a tradition they look forward to all spring – the longer days and lots of golf. And 2022 was no exception. On June 21, starting at dawn and finishing at dusk, they played the two courses at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton (Olympic and Cascade), with the third and final round at their home course, McCormick Woods – 54 holes in all.
This photo was taken at the end of the three rounds, just as the sun was setting. Left to right, the intrepid golfers are Diane Seward, Kristin Lucas, Kay Keating, Suzanne Holland, Linda Lagerquist, Jana Johnson and Patty Henderson.
