Meridian Valley CC Triumphs at 9th Washington State Men's Club Team Championship; High Cedars GC Takes Women's Title

The team from Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, Wash. won the 9th Washington State Men's Club Team Championship, while the team from High Cedars Golf Club in Orting, Wash. won the Washington State Women's Club Team Championship.

Both championships were conducted by the Washington State Golf Association, and were held concurrently at Salish Cliffs Golf Club in Shelton, Wash.

The men's champions included Gordon Fasbender, Todd Densley, Adam Sims and Alex Todak (left to right in attached photo). Although they've played together in competitions in the past as twosomes and singles, this is the first championship that the four of them have played together as a foursome. This is the first year that a team from Meridian Valley has won this championship.

For the Women's Club Team Championship, Kristine Adams, Nancy Faliski, Annette Reno and Annette Seydel of High Cedars had a commanding 14 shot lead after yesterday's first round and bettered it with today's second round, finishing 29 shots clear of Sand Point Country Club, who finished in second place. View their post-round interview here.

High Cedars had twice fielded champions in the men's competition, but this is the first time the club's women's team has taken the title.

Last year's women's champions, the team from Maplewood GC - Pamela Hoffman, Carrie Jacobson, Karen Sharp and Janet Dobrowolski - finished in sixth place this year.

Owned by the Squaxin Island Tribe, Salish Cliffs opened in September 2011, and is an amenity of the Little Creek Casino Resort. Designed by Gene Bates, the championship layout has already earned Top-10 status on Golfweek magazine's "Best Casino Courses" and Golf Digest's "Best Courses in Washington."
