RUBEN AND RAVAE CANAS WIN 3rd ANNUAL WASHINGTON STATE PARENT-CHILD CHAMPIONSHIP

Kent, Washington – Ruben and Ravae Canas of Kent, Wash. successfully captured the 3rd Annual Washington State Parent-Child Championship conducted by the Washington State Golf Association (WSGA).

The Championship was played at Riverbend Golf Complex in a Chapman format which is a 2-person team competition where both players tee off and then switch balls, each plays a second shot and then the team selects the better of the two and finishes the hole in alternate shot format.

The father and daughter Canas team was flawless on their round today carding 3 birdies on holes 1, 3, and 10 for a 3-under par 69. Runners-up with a round of 2-under par 70 were the defending champions, Jim and Joey McNelis of Gig Harbor, Wash. The McNelis’ made 4 birdies on the day at holes 1, 5, 9, and 15 but carded bogeys on holes 7 and 14.

Low net honors went to David and Christopher Danforth of Redmond, Wash. who finished with a 11-under par round of 61.
