The Washington State Golf Association (WSGA) wrapped up the 2015 Winter Series brought to you by Puetz Golf Superstores last Friday, April 10 at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Wash.
Over 450 people participated in the four events held January through April at venues throughout the state. This marked the seventh year of the Winter Series, and saw the highest participation numbers in the Series’ history.
Coming later in 2015, the WSGA will announce the creation of the “WSGA Fall Series brought to you by OGIO.” The Fall Series would follow a similar format as the Winter Series, including four monthly one-day events. The Fall Series would also include a points challenge called the “Fall Series Challenge sponsored by OGIO,” providing participants with a gift card for every event they participate in, and payouts rewarding contestants for their performance across all four events.
The “Winter Series Challenge,” sponsored by Puetz Golf Superstores, remained popular in 2015. Contestants received participation points for each event they played in and were awarded gross and net points for top finishes in each division. Puetz Golf Superstores merchandise certificates in the amount of $1,500 will be distributed to the top men’s and women’s points finishers. Each contestant also received $10 in “Puetz Bucks” for each event they participated in.
In the Men’s Division, Josh Vick of Mukilteo, Wash. claimed first place in the Winter Series Challenge with 420.75 points. Rich Pearson of Ocean Shores, Wash. finished in second with 366 points, and Christopher Addleman of Tacoma, Wash. finished in third at 342.75 points.
In the Women’s Division, Mary Ryan of Renton, Wash. won first place with 355 points. Denise Kieffer of University Place, Wash. took second at 311.67 points, and Yeong Gray of Lakewood finished in third place with 290 points.
