Champions Crowned at Washington Senior & Super Senior Women’s Amateur Championships

Sequim, Wash. – The 25th Washington Senior Women’s Amateur and the 11th Super Senior Women’s Amateur Championships were conducted this week, August 20-21, at The Cedars at Dungeness.

Kim Shek from Bellevue shot rounds of 73-74 to win the Senior Women’s Amateur for the second year in a row, while Linda Hash from Sequim won the Super Senior Women’s Amateur after rounds of 77-78.

Shek entered today’s final round with a three-shot lead over Sue Craven from Mukilteo. She was paired with Craven and four-time champion Lisa Smego from Oro Valley, Ariz., in today’s final round, and she fired the low round of the day to win the championship by seven shots.

This is the second consecutive Senior Women’s Amateur title for Shek, who plays out of Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish. She is a two-time WA Golf Senior Women’s Player of the Year award recipient (2022-23).

Barbara Todd

Yoomee Mun from Tacoma won the Senior Women’s Net title with a 9-under-par finish after net rounds of 71-64.

In the Super Senior, Linda Hash began the day two shots clear of second-place challenger Soon Kim from Bellevue. Hash got off to a rocky start in today’s round with three straight bogeys, but she steadied the ship and carded just four more bogeys across the rest of the round, against one birdie. Hash won by three shots over LoriAnne Johns from Tacoma.

This is Hash’s first-ever WA Golf title, and as a member of The Cedars at Dungeness Women’s Club, she won it on her home course.

Barbara Todd from Seattle captured the Super Senior Women’s Net title, finishing at 10-under-par for the championship after net rounds of 67-67.

The two championships were held concurrently and consisted of 36 holes of stroke play. The Senior Women’s Amateur and Super Senior Women’s Amateur are two of 14 championships conducted annually by WA Golf.
