Playing in Chapman format, the Hipp duo went bogey-free through their 18-hole day, carding four birdies on their first nine and two on their second. Three of their six came on par 3s. The groups of Josh/Chris Clogston of Mukilteo and Scott/Jackson Barter of North Bend finished two shots behind at 4-under, with each turning in a clean, four-birdie card.
Winning the overall Net title was the father-son team of Todd and Justin Johnson of Renton, scoring a 7-under 64 and winning in a scorecard playoff over the pairs of Evan/Randal Groat of Olympia and the Barters. The Johnson team entered as the defending Parent Child overall champions. Father and daughter Arnel and Hailey Blancas finished fourth in the Net division, one back of the three tied groups.
The mother-son team of Teresa and Landon Russell from Bothell won the Flight 1 Gross title. Brigett and Marvin Fenton of Auburn won the Flight 1 Net title.
The 18-hole championship was played in a Chapman stroke play format, with two players playing as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each player playing his or her partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, including par-3 holes, partners select the ball with which they wish to score and then played that ball alternately to complete the hole.
The Parent-Child is one of 14 championships conducted annually by Washington Golf (WA Golf).
