After the first round of the 15th Annual Women’s Best-Ball Championship, Kelly Gardner (Gig Harbor) and Kim Titus (Anacortes) lead the field of 48 teams at Meridian Valley Country Club in Kent, Wash. after posting a gross score of 1-under par 71. The team had three birdies on the day and takes a four stroke lead into the final round of play.
Defending champions, Ginny Burkey (Fircrest) and Lisa Smego (Olympia), sit in a three way tie for second place after posting a 3-over par 75. Joyce Martin (Fircrest) and Alisa Wilson (Tacoma) and Gretchen Klein (Hoquiam) and Pat Terry (Chelan) join them in second place.
The course played tough as overnight and morning rain provided an additional challenge for players. All 48 teams will look to take the course with better weather tomorrow morning as final round play begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
