With 18 holes of both gross and net stroke play complete, an identical round is still to come, with a hole-by-hole playoff to determine a champion if necessary.

After starting with a bogey, Kieffer’s round got slightly back on track with birdies on holes nine and 15, with her and Klein’s 76’s still three shots clear of third place. Klein had birdies on holes three and four, and like Kieffer, she avoided a double bogey or worse for the rest of the day to post 4-over.

Kieffer had previously won the 2009 Washington Women’s Champion of Champions. Klein is a two-time winner of the Washington Senior Women Champion of Champions, taking its 2017 and 2022 titles.

Asue Barnes (Union) and Yeon Hee Kim (Tacoma) are tied for the senior net lead, at 3-under par.

In the Super Senior, Johns holds a two-shot lead, as the only player to break 80 in the first round. She recorded a birdie on her sixth hole. Entering the second round, Johns will be in search of her first WA Golf title.

Sally Kramer (Lake Tapps, Wash.) and Yo Julia Larsen (Federal Way, Wash.) are tied at even-par for the Super Senior net lead.

For both championships, entries are open to women golfers who have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index issued by a WA Golf member club not exceeding 40.4 and are members in good standing of a WA Golf member club. By Aug. 19, 2025, senior players must have reached their 50th birthday, and super senior players must have reached their 65th.

The Washington Senior and Super Senior Women’s Amateur Championships are two of 14 championships held annually by WA Golf.
